Bus Boost for Ruddington

Nottingham City Transport is set to enhance its Navy 3 service to Ruddington later this month.

It’s part of a raft of changes to the Clifton bus network following an in-depth review of the impact of the new tram line running in the area. In some parts this has reduced bus use by over 30%.

But the changes to be implemented on the 29th of January are good news for Ruddington bus passengers – who’ll actually benefit from an improved service.  The Navy 3 will have a revised timetable, with Monday to Saturday daytime buses increased to run up to every 20 minutes. Morning services will begin around an hour earlier on weekdays and two hours earlier on Saturdays. In the evenings, buses will now run every 30 minutes until around 8pm and all Sunday buses will be extended from Ruddington through to Clifton. The Navy 3 will also be extended to serve the Hartness Road area of Clifton, 7 days a week, and will be re-routed along Farnborough Road and Southchurch Drive to provide improved access to the main shopping, leisure and health facilities in Clifton Centre – with buses stopping at the main bus stop on Southchurch Drive. These changes are partly due to Clifton’s Navy 2 service being withdrawn.

clifton-network-map-v3Commenting on the new timetables, David Astill, NCT Commercial Manager said: “The changes that NCT will be making are our response to the change in travel habits since the Clifton tram line became operational in August of last year. We deliberately avoided making any quick and rash decisions and have instead allowed the market to settle. These changes do not take out resources and we are striving to use those existing resources more effectively so that we can offer an improved service to those areas where the greatest demand and potential exists whilst avoiding unnecessary head-on competition with the tram.”

Full information about all the forthcoming Clifton bus changes is online at www.nctx.co.uk/cliftonchanges. A printed “Clifton Bus Network” Guide will also be available soon.
